Exploring Himachal

Tour Overview
A 5-day overland expedition traversing the colonial heritage of Shimla, the rugged pine forests of the Parvati Valley, and the high-altitude cedar trails of Manali. This fast-paced route is meticulously planned for travellers seeking a balance of cultural exploration and mountain trekking.
Daily Itinerary
Arrival in Shimla & The Ridge
Morning/Afternoon: Arrive in Shimla and check into your accommodation. Start with a walk along the pedestrian-only Mall Road and The Ridge, taking in the colonial-era architecture like Christ Church. Evening: For a quick warm-up hike, walk up the steep trail to Jakhoo Temple, the highest point in Shimla, for panoramic views of the surrounding Shivalik ranges as the sun sets.
The Overland Drive to Kasol
Morning: Hit the road early for the long, scenic drive from Shimla to Kasol (approximately 7 to 8 hours). The route drops down towards the Sutlej River, crosses over into the Kullu district, and eventually winds alongside the roaring Parvati River. Afternoon: Arrive in Kasol by late afternoon. Settle into your stay and stretch your legs. Evening: Grab a hearty meal at one of the famous Israeli cafes in the village and relax by the riverbank.
Trekking the Parvati Valley
Morning: Lace up your boots and cross the suspension bridge over the Parvati River to begin the trek to Chalal. If you want a more rigorous hiking challenge, take the steeper, less-trodden trail up towards Grahan village, navigating through dense pine forests and rocky paths. Afternoon: Enjoy a rustic lunch in one of the high-altitude villages, soaking in the pristine mountain air and towering peaks. Evening: Descend back to Kasol before dark and rest up after a solid day on the trails.
Kasol to Manali & Old Manali
Morning: Drive from Kasol to Manali (about 3 hours). The route follows the Beas River up into the higher mountains of the Kullu Valley. Afternoon: Check into your accommodation in Manali. Head up to Old Manali to explore its narrow, winding roads, cedar forests, and vibrant cafe culture. Walk the trail through the towering Deodar trees to visit the ancient Hadimba Temple. Evening: Enjoy dinner in Old Manali, which often features live music and a great atmosphere for travellers.
High-Altitude Passes & Departure
Morning: Drive up the Leh-Manali highway towards Solang Valley or pass through the engineering marvel of the Atal Tunnel. The landscape shifts dramatically here, offering a glimpse of the barren, rugged peaks of the Lahaul side—perfect for a final short hike or simply taking in the sheer scale of the Himalayas. Afternoon: Head back down to Manali town to catch your late afternoon or evening Volvo bus or flight for your onward journey.
